Unrelated Business Income Tax

The Minnesota Department of Revenue also regulates UBIT or Unrelated Business Income Tax, for nonprofit organizations. Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT) applies to income that a nonprofit or tax-exempt organization makes from activities that are not related to its normal business activity.

Minnesota PTA advises PTA to closely monitor their activities to prevent incurring UBIT which would increase your nonprofit reporting requirments.
